A Pocketful of Kisses
School starts this Wednesday for us. I can’t believe my Bea will be in year 2! I remember when school was something new and scary and now she can’t wait to get back to her friends and the “whole bowls of custard with lumps of butter in it mum!” (we’re considering packed lunches). When the very first day of school loomed we read loads of books about shy creatures learning that school is a fun and friendly place. One of our favourites was A Pocketful of Kisses written by Angela McAllister and illustrated by the brilliant Sue Hellard. A little Mole called Digby isn’t keen on leaving his mum but with the help of a coat pocket stuffed with kisses and new friend Ottilie the otter things seem a lot better. We often read over this story and there is always something new and amusing to be found in the detailed drawings of Digby’s woodland primary school.
